Hi guys,
In order to get on the vipconduit.com site, I had to install the latest ventrilo, 2.2. Iuninstalled the old version, 2.1, and installed 2.2, as it was recommended to me. It installed, but when I tried to open the program, I got an error dialogue which said, error opening program, a required file, dinput8.dll was not found. I wrote the sites' help desk, and was told by one of the staff who does the audio tutorials, to upgrade microsft installer. He gave me the direct link, and it led me to a file, instmsia.exe. It's microsoft installer 2.0. I didnt think it was going to install, because it said the folowing programs should be closed before proceeding with the install, but it didn't really tell whatprograms needed to be closed. I tried exiting out of everything I could, and when i hit the escape key, it said installing. I tried again to open ventrilo, but I got the same problem. I wrote the help desk back, and he said he didn't have any more ideas, maybe someone else would. Does anyone know anything about this instmsia.exe file, and why it doesn't work for me? I know it's there, because I went to find all files and folders and it found it. It's on the c drive. So what gives? did i do something wrong, or does ventrilo 2.2 just not work with windows 98? from what I understood, upgrading microsoft installer was suppose to fix the problem of certain programs not installing.
